Oncothermia as a Treatment Not Covered by National Health Insurance

Your Current Primary Doctor
• If you are a patient here, have your current primary doctor make an outpatient appointment with an oncothermia doctor.
• If you are not currently a patient here, ask your doctor at the hospital you currently visit for a referral (letter of introduction).

Decide on Oncothermia Doctor and Make First Appointment for Therapy
• Decide which doctor will be in charge of your oncothermia therapy. Therapy will be administered based on that doctor’s instructions.
The doctor will provide an explanation of oncothermia therapy.
The doctor will then set your first oncothermia appointment (12:30–).

Start of Oncothermia Therapy
• For the first session (12:30–), a doctor will meet you in the Oncothermia Room to confirm the site to be treated and the method, and a patient consent form will be prepared.
• A coordinator will provide additional explanations regarding the therapy, and therapy will begin based on the doctor’s instructions.

Treatments not covered by national health insurance cannot be performed on the same day as other therapies. Patients also cannot be hospitalized for treatments not covered by national health insurance.
Oncothermia therapy is not covered by national health insurance, and is available by appointment only; each therapy session costs ¥5,000 (plus consumption tax).
