●Specialist Care Worthy of Attention
Diagnosis of Pancreatic and Biliary Tract Tumors through Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
超音波内視鏡(EUS)による膵臓・胆道疾患の診断
EUS uses an endoscope equipped with an ultrasound observation device (echo) at its tip; this method allows for the most detailed observations of the pancreas.
Pancreatic cancer is regarded as one of the toughest types to treat, with a five-year survival rate of just 8%. However, if tumors can be detected when they are 1 cm or less in size, the five-year survival rate jumps to 80%.
EUS is a state-of-the-art test that is absolutely essential for detecting pancreatic cancer at an early stage.
This test can also provide vital information for deciding on treatment plans for pancreatic cysts or gall bladder polyps.

●Diagnosis through Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Fine Needle Aspiration (EUS-FNA)
超音波内視鏡下針生検
EUS-FNA is a type of needle biopsy that uses an endoscopic ultrasound to observe the target lesion.
Traditionally, sample collection from the pancreas, mediastinal and intra-abdominal lymph nodes, and masses has been considered a difficult part of pathological diagnosis, but with EUS-FNA, this sample collection can be performed safely and easily. At the Center, these tests are handled by doctors with world-class track records.

●Treatment Using EUS-FNA
For pancreatic cysts and abscesses, and bile duct obstructions, we can use endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) instead of surgery to implant and drain tubes.

●Diagnosis through Peroral Cholangioscopy and Pancreatoscopy
経口胆道・膵管鏡検査による診断イメージ
An ultra-fine-diameter endoscope (peroral cholangioscope or pancreatoscope) can be inserted directly into the bile duct or pancreatic duct, to observe their insides and collect tissue from lesions. The Center is the only facility in the Hokuriku region with this equipment, which enables us to diagnose lesions in the bile duct or pancreas that would otherwise be difficult to diagnose through CT and MRI scans.

●Endoscopic Treatment of Common Bile Duct Stones
Nearly all common bile duct stones can be treated endoscopically, with no need for surgery.
Even difficult-to-treat stones, such as very large stones or stones that are lodged in the bile duct, can be treated through peroral cholangioscopy, small intestinal endoscopy, or EUS, even after a gastric resection.

●Endoscopic Treatment of Early Esophagus, Stomach, and Colon Cancer

We have introduced endoscopic treatment for the esophagus, stomach, and colon, with a proven track record.
If you have been told by a different hospital that such treatment would be unfeasible, or if you have any questions about whether endoscopic treatment would be suitable for you, please come see one of our doctors.
In particular, we recommend visiting our hospital for ESDs of the esophagus or colon, as we are among the few hospitals in the prefecture able to handle these procedures.

●Diagnosis and Treatment through Capsule and Balloon Endoscopy of the Small Intestine
小腸カプセル内視鏡・バルーン内視鏡
It is possible to diagnose and treat diseases of the small intestine, an organ once regarded as difficult to treat.
We have performed numerous capsule and balloon endoscopies of the small intestine, which are essential for diagnosis of gastrointestinal bleeding of unknown source.

●Eradication Therapy for Refractory Ulcerative Colitis and Molecularly Targeted Therapy for Crohn’s Disease
難治性潰瘍性大腸炎
When ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease can be fully healed (mucosal healing) through the initial treatment, this leads to a near-complete elimination of subsequent flare-ups.
Proper use of newly developed drugs can result in mucosal healing from the initial treatment, providing improved quality of life and good long-term prognoses.

●Chemotherapy for Advanced Gastrointestinal Cancers, and Molecularly Targeted Therapy for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GISTs)
For the treatment of advanced cancers and GISTs, new molecularly targeted therapeutic drugs have received approval alongside progress in basic research, and therapeutic management that makes effective use of these new drugs leads to long-term survival.
We collaborate with other centers as necessary, to practice multidisciplinary treatment.

●Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) Treatment of Liver Cell Carcinoma
ラジオ波焼灼療法(RFA)
We have performed this procedure many times, and have a great deal of experience with this treatment. We actively use artificial thoracoabdominal fluid, contrast echo imaging, and imaging support systems with the aim of providing safe, reliable treatment.
We also practice multidisciplinary treatment combined with intravascular treatments.

●Treatment of Gastric Ulcers, Duodenal Ulcers, and Gastric MALT Lymphoma through Pylori Eradication
ピロリ菌
Pylori eradication is a treatment covered by national health insurance for anyone infected.
Eradication treatment may seem simple, but there has been more and more antibiotic-resistant bacteria due to lax treatment, and a sudden increase in failed treatments due to inadequate knowledge — there is a greater need than ever for proper eradication treatment.
Even in cases where standard eradication treatment has failed, we always find a way to successfully eradicate the bacteria.

●Others
• Analysis of clinical condition of refractory GERD, and treatment based on the cause
• Multidisciplinary treatment combining transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE), continuous hepatic arterial infusion therapy, and molecularly targeted therapy
• Preoperative assessments and postoperative follow-ups for living partial liver transplantations
• Multidisciplinary treatment including plasma exchange for fulminant hepatitis, and evaluation of transplantation eligibility
